It all started with a tragedy... It began tragically. The mother of Mark Hughes, the founder of Herbalife, became addicted to prescription diet pills and died of an accidental overdose. Although Mark was only 18, he resolved to find a way to help people enhance their health through good nutrition and develop a program designed to lose weight safely and effectively. After much research and development, Mark launched Herbalife to fulfill the mission of putting improved health and well-being within reach for people around the world.
